Custom Hardware Interface
Customer background
IES was approached by a high-end electronics manufacturer needing additional support
for their development team. The company is a mid-size manufacturer and had a large
number of active projects but insufficient resources to support them all.
Problem
Visual, interactive interfaces for hardware devices are required to stay competitive
in today's market. The manufacturer wanted a user interface that would interact
with the device, but did not have the resources to develop such an interface. In
addition, they were finding that many of their devices utilized the same user interface
functionality, but there was no common framework for rapidly adapting a generic
user interface for a particular device.
Solution
A team from IES was integrated into the Client’s development team. IES provided
on-site support and took the lead in developing the user interface for the device.
The user interface was integrated with a back-end database, which served as the
common link between the user interface and the functionality of the device. The
user interface was also composed of a generic framework and common user interface
controls.
Benefits
- Client easily augmented their development team with IES consultants.
- Onsite support provided excellent communication and increased the efficiency of
the project management.
- The user interface was built upon a
very flexible framework, and can easily be expanded
to different devices.
Results
- Client was able to increase their work load.
- Client was able to meet their deadlines.
